Deputy 26ers,

Fiction Addiction and Team Dark Addicts are on fire! In addition to being the overall leader with 90 points, Dark Addicts also won the “Creative Contest” a couple challenges ago. In honor of that, their submission is our Deputy 26 contest for the next two weeks. That’s right, we’re going to give you two weeks this time, to go as crazy as you can.

The contest? Sqweegel sightings. Your goal is to get as many “Sqweegel Sightings” from around the world as you can.

So, per the Dark Addicts' submission, here’s the contest and how it works:

1) Every Deputy should start by creating a Facebook account or fan page for their team (if they haven’t done so already) and adding the “Where I’ve Been” map app in their sidebar. “Where I’ve Been” is a Facebook app that allows you to highlight the countries and state’s you’ve been to. Using this app will allow the Deputies to show where Sqweegel has been spotted.

2) Deputies will then kick of the contest by shooting a short video announcing their Sqweegel sighting by using a copy of the Level 26: Dark Origins book or iPhone/iPod app. The video must feature the Deputy and the book/app in front of a state/country/city landmark. Places such as the state capitol building, a sporting event stadium, famous buildings, statues, monuments are perfect. It could even be in front of your town welcome sign if you don’t live near big landmarks. The point is that it should be clear in the video where you are.

3) After shooting the video, Deputies must upload the video to their Facebook team page and mark the location on the “Where I’ve Been” map.

4) Deputies will then try to get as many of the recruits, from as many different locations as possible, to upload their own “Sqweegel Sighting” from a local landmark. You’ll need to get creative as to how you will spread the word of Level 26, recruit new members, and get them to create and upload the video.

5) Once a recruit has uploaded their own “Sqweegel Sighting” the Deputy needs to make sure to mark the location on the “Where I’ve Been” app themselves, as Fans of a page cannot make updates to the “Where I’ve Been” app.

The winners will be determined by the number of Sqweegel Sighting videos and the number of States/Countries Sqweegel was “spotted” in (as there will more than likely be multiple sightings in each state).

Sounds like a lot? Well, it’s really as easy as 1,2,3!

1)    Deputies create a Team Facebook page, attach the “Where I’ve Been” app and upload their own Sqweegel Sighting video.

2)    Deputies recruit others from around the country and the world to upload a "Sqweegel Sighting" video.

3)    Deputies map the Sqweegel Sightings as the recruits upload their video and describe the location.

The deadline for the contest is Wednesday December 16th at 11:59 PM EST. No photoshopping or special effects allowed. You must go to the location and videotape you (or another volunteer) with the book/app in front of a landmark that clearly shows where you are. And it’s okay for recruits to post their video to multiple Deputies if they choose to do so.

Good luck and have fun.
