Deputy 26ers,
One of the best things I’ve learned about the Internet is from Howard Schmidt, the White House Cyber-Czar, who I’m going to be meeting with next week. He told me that everything you put on the Internet is permanent. One, big, permanent record.
This has been a long time coming; the Deputy 26 contest has come to and end. I had a vision this would be a fun experience for the community; individual users coming together to work in teams on something fun and creative, and working harmoniously with other teams to create a vast pool of user-generated content. Now many people and groups worked hard and produced some great stuff, and some let the competition aspect get the best of them. There will always be people looking to ruin things for others, and that seems to be the case here.
This is not a place for haters; I don’t want that attitude or behavior here. So we’re going to continue cleaning house until all the negativity and hate is gone for good. I am instituting a zero tolerance policy. If you attack another user, you’re gone. If you’re only posting angry, hateful, rude comments, you’re gone. I don’t need a reason to kick you out, so consider yourself warned. And if necessary, in the case of personal threats, we will pass on your information to the proper authorities.
Now that the Deputy 26 contest is over, we’re going to move the focus of the site back to the book series. You may see changes to the design as we prepare to launch Book 2. For those of you still coming every day and contributing, thank you for hanging in. We still have some amazing things in store for you, and we appreciate your loyalty and passion for Level 26.
On to the winners:
Congratulations to
Dark Wanderers for winning the final Deputy 26 contest. They put together a great little story, written well, engaging and I thought they did a really great job.
However, we have to give our biggest congratulations to team
Big Yellow Sqweegels for winning the entire Deputy 26 contest. Per the prize package,
Big Yellow Hero and another person of her choice will be flown out to Los Angeles during production of the book two cyber-bridges.
