Readers are given the option to read, watch and log-in, as they move from passages in the books to videos, to interactive content right here on the Level 26 website.
The first installment in the series "Level 26: Dark Origins," is available now in bookstores and online. As you read the book, you'll see calls-to-action that direct you to this website to sign up for a profile and enter codes to unlock Cyber-bridges. These cinematic Cyber-bridges take the experience to the next level, immersing you in the action and putting you inside the twisted mind of a serial killer. When you're ready for more the second book in the series, "Dark Prophecy: A Level 26 Thriller" will be available on October 14, 2010.
The Cyberbridges are just the beginning. Edit your profile page, upload photos and videos, write blogs, and make new friends. Get involved in the Level 26 universe by contributing your ideas for new characters and storylines in the Forum and by uploading your fan fiction, photos, and videos to your profile page. Finally, you can get to know Anthony and real-world detectives and crime scene investigators on the Members page. You can check their profile pages, write on their boards, send them messages, and interact with them just like you would on a social network like Facebook or MySpace. In the Photo Albums section of your profile click the "Upload Photos" option. Enter a name and description for the album of photos you are creating and then click "Submit". A pop up window will launch, asking you to "Trust" the java applet used to load the photo program. Please click "Trust" (this will NOT install software on your computer). Locate the folder where the photos are located on your computer, select the ones you want to upload, and click "Send". Once the album has been uploaded, you will be given the option to add captions to your photos.
In the Notes section of your profile click the "Write about your day" option. Enter a Title for your post, choose an optional Smiley Face, type in an optional song you are listening to, and then write your note in the 'Body' field. Once you have finished writing your note, simply click "Submit."
In order to upload videos to your profile page, you need to first create a YouTube account and then connect that account to your EQAL account on Level26.com. First, sign up for a YouTube account. Next, visit your Level 26 profile page and click "Edit my profile." Next, click "External Accounts" in the "My Account" section. Next click "YouTube accounts." Finally, enter your YouTube username and password into the appropriate fields and click "Submit." You will now be able to import videos from this YouTube account. If you'd like, you can link multiple YouTube accounts to your EQAL account on Level26.com.
If you want, you can connect a Twitter account to your EQAL account on Level26.com and broadcast your status updates on Level 26 to your Twitter followers. First, sign up for a Twitter account. Next, visit your Level 26 profile page and click "Edit my profile." Next, click "External Accounts" in the "My Account" section. Next click "Twitter accounts." Click the "Sign in with Twitter" button. You will be directed to Twitter.com and see the message "An application would like to connect to your account. The application Level26.com by EQAL Inc. would like the ability to access and update your data on Twitter." If you are already logged in, simply click "Accept." If not, enter your Twitter username and password and click "Accept." You will be re-directed back to Level26.com and can broadcast your status updates to Twitter.
You can now incorporate photos into discussion posts. To do so, the images must be located on an existing website, not on your computer. The images must adhere to the Forum Behavior Policy, as they will be moderated. To add images on a Mac, simply drag and drop an image from any web browser directly into the discussion post text box. To add images on a PC, you can drag and drop like on a Mac, or you can right click the image, copy the link location and paste it into the discussion post text box.
You can flag a piece of content as "Offensive" and it will enter our moderation queue, at which point one of our moderators will take appropriate action. You can also email abuse@level26.com to report abusive users or offensive content.
